ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has paid Rs 8.8 million fine to secure release/repatriation of 77 prisoners from United Arab Emirates (UAE) from March 2008 todate, National Assembly told on Friday.
In a written reply to the question of Belum Hasnain, the minister for foreign affairs said the prisoners have already completed their sentences on minor charges.
A vast majority of prisoners were involved in begging, illegal stay, working on visit visa driving under the influence of alcohol, non-payment of loan etc.
