KARACHI: Canadian High Commissioner, Greg Giokas, held comprehensive economic discussions with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, business, agricultural and social leaders from the province.
A press release issued here on Tuesday said that Canada's desire to share expertise on economic development with particular emphasis on the development of Pakistan's superb agriculture sector was the main theme in all meetings.
In his meetings the High Commissioner shared that Canadian agriculture exports now exceeded $47 billion as a result of comprehensive policy development, private investment and meaningful consultation with sectoral stakeholders. A key element of Canada's agricultural success has been its willingness to explore new markets, including opening up trade relations with large competitors, and ensuring a business-friendly investment climate.
The High Commissioner noted that "Canada and Pakistan's many friends want increased economic prosperity and stability in Pakistan".
