ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Thursday said the government was committed to eradicating polio from the country and would ensure safety of polio workers in conflict-hit areas to give full coverage to the polio eradication programme.
The Prime Minister said this while talking to Dr Chris Elias, President Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and his delegation, at the PM House here.
The Prime Minister said the government would benefit from the experiences of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in fields of immunization and overcoming child mortality.
"We would like to continue our close collaboration with the Gates Foundation to strengthen our national efforts as well as enabling us to play our important role in eradicating polio worldwide," he said.
The Prime Minster expressed gratitude to Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, on behalf of people of Pakistan, for making substantial contribution to polio eradication initiative.
