ISLAMABAD: Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique Thursday informed the Senate that no proposal on card to close 450 small railways stations.
Replying to a Calling Attention notice moved by senators Nasreen Jalil and Moula Baksh Chandio, the minister said that around 35 locomotives were repaired indigenously recently and 58 more locomotives would be inducted into Pakistan railways this year to ensure balance in passenger and freight trains.
To a question, he said that currently we were not in position to reopen the closed sections of railways during the current year.
Regarding railways land, the minister said that it was a very important issue as some land had already been encroached.
"We have decided to bring railways land issue into Council of Common Interests (CCI) before going to the Supreme Court to resolve the issue," he said.
