ISLAMABAD: The outgoing British High Commissioner Adam Thomson Saturday paid farewell call on Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here on Saturday.
The Minister appreciated the services rendered by the outgoing High Commissioner of the United Kingdom during his tenure in Islamabad and said he would always be remembered as a friend of Pakistan who played an important role in bringing the two countries closer to each other, said a press release.
The Minister said that Pakistan and the UK have along standing fraternal relations and the present government is endeavoring to further strengthen these relations.
The meeting touched upon the areas of close cooperation between the UK and Pakistan including issues of security, illegal immigration, counter-terrorism and drug trafficking.
The High Commissioner said that the momentum generated in these areas would be further built upon by the visit of British Home Secretary Theresa May.
He said UK attaches great importance to cooperation with Pakistan in these fields and sees Pakistan as an important player in the region.
The UK, he said, would like to help Pakistan in all manners to get out of its current difficulties.
The High Commissioner said that he is leaving Pakistan with a heavy heart and would always cherish the memories of his stay in Islamabad.
