SIALKOT: Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Sunday that foreign donor agencies had increased their assistance 4-5 times to carry out projects in the country.
He said USAID, the World Bank and other organisations have increased the assistance for water, electricity, petroleum and gas sectors to end energy crisis.
Talking to APP, the Federal Minister said, "We are already working on a strategy to overcome loadshedding and long, medium and short-term power generating plants would be set up."
He said special attention will be paid to long term projects for producing sufficient electricity for catering future needs of the country.
The projects would be initiated with the assistance of donor agencies, he added.
He said several countries have shown keen interest in investing in the energy sector.
Khawaja Asif said Pakistan was rich in natural resources which were feasible for initiating short and long-term hydel power projects for power generation and work on the projects would be initiated soon.
