LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) Vice chairman MNA Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday said that his party wants to seek active role of all opposition groups in the parliament in a more coordinated and active manner to highlight the issues of masses.
"We don't want to see any political party or group of parliamentarians working as a friendly opposition and giving undue support to the rulers", he said in a telephonic conversation with APP.
He said that PTI would do its level best to ensure that the opposition benches play their role fairly and convey concerns of the people to the government.
Shah Mehmood said that parliamentarians and financial experts of PTI were fully engaged in preparing workable suggestions on the budget. These recommendations would be made part of the budget debate in the parliament, he said. Commenting on the budget, he said that revenue targets proposed in the Federal budget for FY 2013-14 are unrealistic. He said that 1pc increase in GST means further price hike.
"We don't understand how FBR would be able to get 23pc increase in its revenue targets during the year 2013-14 in the circumstances where its performance remained dismal during FY 2012-13 and it had to make downward revision of its revenue targets twice".
He said that the poor, labourers, peasants have nothing to gain from the budget and that it does not reflect the promises which PML-N made with masses during the election campaign.
