ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday indicted former president and army chief General Pervez Musharraf (retd) in judge's detention case.
The judge of the ATC Islamabad, Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi, resumed the hearing of the matter at Musharraf's residence in Chak Shahzad, which has been turned into a sub-jail, where investigating officers of the case read out the charge-sheet against Musharraf.
During the curse of proceedings, the ATC's judge summoned prosecution witnesses on the next date of hearing as prosecutor Amer Nadeem Tabish did not appear before the court due to security reasons.
An FIR was lodged against Musharraf on August 11, 2009 at the Secretariat Police Station Islamabad, for detaining over 60 judges, including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, on the complaint of Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Ghumman advocate.
The ATC had rejected the application for bail after arrest filed by Advocate Ilyas Siddiqui, on behalf of Musharraf against which he invoked the IHC which granted bail to his client in the judges' detention case on June 11, 2013.
On Saturday, Musharraf also filed an application for acquittal in the current matter, denying all the charges against him.
Later, the ATC judge issued notices to all parties of the case and adjourned the hearing of case till June 21.
