imageISLAMABAD: The Secretary Interior Punjab on Tuesday submitted a report before the Supreme Court terming the police, health department and the prisoner department responsible for the escape of Ruhullah, accused of killing former Attorney General (AG) Sardar Muhammad Khan from the country.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed the hearing of a sou moto case of the murder of former AG and the escape of Ruhullah, the accused who was shifted from Adiala Jail to the District Headquarters Hospital, from where he first escaped to Dubai and later fled to Afghanistan.

During the course of proceeding, Tahir Aalum, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Islamabad rejected the allegations levled against him and stated that he was blamed without justification in the report as it was not in his duty chart to conduct this matter.

He said that he was SSP Islamabad at that time, whose duty was an investigation officer and nothing more. Chief Justice remarked that no one would be charged unheard, if he thinks that he was not responsible for the incident then he need not to worry.

However, the CJ inquired to explain the situation after the apex court's order as nothing was done for the arrest of the accused even after the clear orders by the court.

Tahir Alam replied that the police was serious in arresting the accused and for that cause, he himself traveled to Afghanistan and faced hardships. Chief Justice stated that it was his duty to go anywhere in the world for his arrest adding that nothing was going to happen practically except paper work.

The bench expressed annoyance when it came to know that the IG was not named in the given list of the responsible persons adding that being a commander of a department, IG should be named in the list.

The CJ remarked that the court would not allow anyone to transfer the IG Islamabad or any other until responsible persons were not brought back the accused.

Later, the bench directed the IG Islamabad police Bani Amin and DIG Tahir Alam to bring back the accused from Afghanistan till next date of hearing and directed the persons named in the list to file their objections on their nominations as the responsible of the incident.

The court then adjourned further hearing of the case till May 29.
