KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain telephoned former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and expressed his sympathies on the kidnapping of his son Ali Haider Gillani.
In a statement issued by MQM here on Thursday, Altaf said that the election commission and the caretaker government had made several promises for holding peaceful and transparent elections.
He said that the increasing incidents of terrorism clearly indicated the growing influence of terrorists in the country.
He extended full cooperation to Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in this difficult time.
While talking to Altaf, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani said that the views of MQM chief were based on realities and also thanked him for expressing sympathies.
He said that all political forces that have been made the target of terrorism would have to unite for fighting terrorism.
