imageLAHORE: A full bench of the Lahore High Court Thursday provisionally allowed PML-N Candidate Syed Gulzar Sabtain to contest elections from NA-145, Okara, after suspending Returning Officer and election tribunal orders which declared him ineligible.

The full bench comprising Justice Syed Ijaz ul Ahsan, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi passed the order while hearing a petition filed by syed Gulzar Sabtain challenging orders of returning officer and election tribunal against him.

Earlier, respondent Syed Samsam Bukhari's counsel apprised bench that the petitioner concealed assets and involved in water theft case.

However, the petitioner's counsel submitted that the assets referred had been sold in 2009 whereas the petitioner was not involved in any case of water theft.

The bench after hearing the arguments provisionally allowed Syed Gulzar Sabtain to contest elections and sought record by April 29.

Meanwhile, the bench adjourned hearing of a petition filed by former minister Rana Farooq Saeed against orders of the returning officer and election tribunal , besides extending interim relief earlier granted to him by April 29.

The bench also sought record from FBR and summoned LESCO chief executive along record, after respondents alleged that the petitioner concealed assets and involved in electricity theft.
