Malik to be provided security: SC directs

imageISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan Thursday directed the interior ministry to provide security to former Interior Minister, Rehman Malik.

This was directed by a five-judge larger bench headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali during the hearing of intra-court appeal of contempt of court against the former Interior Minister.

Latif Khosa, Counsel for Malik, requested the court to provide security to his client as his life was in danger and being the former minister it was also his right to opt security in that situation.

Upon which, the bench directed the interior ministry for providing security to Rehman Malik and adjourned hearing till April 12.

Meanwhile, in another intra-court appeal filed by the Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Admiral (Retd) Fasih Bukhari, the apex court sought assistance from Attorney General, Irfan Qadir.

The bench asked the AG to explain the maintainability of the chairman's appeal against his indictment by the Supreme Court in a contempt of court charge.

The further hearing of the case was also adjourned till April 12.
