Govt starts consultation with opposition for appointment of ECP members ISLAMABAD: The government had started consultation with the opposition parties for appointments of new provincial members of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).After the 22th Amendment in Constitution, the qualification of the ECP members have been expanded and now the technocrats and bureaucrats were also eligible for the posts besides the retired judges.The ECP had postponed the elections schedules in several constituencies due to the above process.The 12 member Parliamentary committee established for the appointments of ECP members had started its work and it had also chosen Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid as its chairman.
