KARACHI: The divisional and district administration Karachi has challaned 45 shopkeepers and fines of Rs. 75,100/- were imposed while two shopkeepers were arrested for continuos profiteering and violating officially approved price list.
According to a statement issued here on Wednesday, during crackdown, the administration fined 14 milk sellers, one vegetables sellers, 15 grocers, six fruits sellers and nine chicken sellers.
The action against profiteers were taken in the areas including Liaquat Abad, Gulberg, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, New Karachi, Murad Memon Goth, Model Colony, Shah Faisal, Saddar, Aram Bagh, Civil Line, Garden, Jamshed Quarters, Gulzar Hijri, Orangi Town, Baldia Town and other areas.
Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that the operation against profiteers will continue till the sale of essential items is not ensured according to officially approved price list.
