power-supplyFAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) by evolving a load management strategy has succeeded in ensuring uninterrupted supply of electricity to industrial, commercial and domestic consumers to the entire satisfaction and no hue and cry or complaint was noted since than.

The new load management plan provides a sigh of relief to the all consumers after a long torture ridden atmosphere cropped up in and around Faisalabad in the wake of unscheduled and massive load shedding which virtually crippled industrial, trade and commercial activities and created innumerable problems for the consumers and followed by a series of demonstrations, riots, arson of FESCO buildings and damage of government properties.

The FESCO region comprises of 8 districts including Faisalabad, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Mianwali, Chiniot, Bhakkar and Khushab where total electricity demand for consumption is 2164 megawatt.

However, at present, FESCO region is getting 1510 megawatt electricity supply from main national power house and is facing a shortfall of 654 megawatt.

However, to bridge the gap between demand and supply, the FESCO authorities massively through media and other sources circulated and displayed the load shedding period which is being adhered to most satisfied and relaxed sector of industries.

The industrial dominated feeders will experience only 4 hours load shedding in a day and no unscheduled load shedding would be done in these feeders under the new load management plan, claimed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) FESCO.

He told that new load management schedule has been evolved in consultation with all stakeholders due to which it is being accepted by all trade, commercial and industrial bodies of the region.

President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) Muzammal Sultan has appreciated the new load management scheduled for industrial feeders and said it would be a great achievement of FESCO authorities which is not only helping in mitigating the sufferings of electricity consumers but also playing an effective role in maintaining law and order in the region.

Waheed Khaliq Ramay chairman Council of Loom Owners Association (CLOA) also hailed the new load management plan and said it will help for the survival of small industries especially the power loom sector.

He said that workers of loom factory are mostly daily wager earners and when industries stopped functioning in the wake of electricity shortfall, a large number became jobless.

Malik Abdul Qayyum of Qaumi Mazdoor Ettihad said that "after new load management plan of FESCO, we are returning back and the looms have started operating which is a good sign".

Mian Muhammad Shafiq of Sizing Industries Association said that "small businessmen and industrialists were the major victim of power crises as they have no sources or alternates for survival".

"However, new load management schedule of the electricity distribution company is a sign of their survival and it would help to save them from total collapse", he added.

Mian Muhammad Idrees former president FCCI also appreciated the new load management plan of FESCO and said it would help fulfill expectations of the industrials and commercial consumers who want to generate maximum revenue for the national kitty by running their businesses.

Mian Lateef of Sitara group of industries said that new load management plan will not only help in minimizing the complaints of the consumers but it will also play an active role in strengthening national economy by enabling the exporters to honor and fulfill their foreign commitments in-time.

Besides industrialists and businessmen, the commonman is also happy with the new load management schedule because it is also providing relief during Sehar and Iftar time.

FESCO is also utilizing electricity generated by the private sector's energy units including Koh-e-Noor, Crescent, Nishat, Sitara, Inraheem etc. to overcome the power shortfall in the region.
