MIRPUR: Pakistan Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) said that fire broke out in bushes and jungle in the vicinity of Tarbela Dam at about 09:10 Thursday night, but well away from the switchyard and the power station.
In a press statement issued on Friday, WADPA said the rescue operation immediately started by the fire fighters of WAPDA and different other institutions controlled the situation.
Though the fire incident took place far away from the power house and the switchyard, Tarbela Power Station and the transmission lines had to be closed by the operational staff for safety purpose, the statement said, however, it was completely re-energized by about 2:00 a.m.
All the units of Tarbela Power Station are running normally and contributing to the National Grid as usual, the press release added.
