ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain on Tuesday said that implementation and completion of oil and gas pipeline projects in this region would open job opportunities and resolve energy problems in Pakistan.
Talking to Pakistan Television's News Night program, he said that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani's meeting with Russian and Chinese leaders and address at SCO was very successful.
He said that Russian and Chinese premiers support for several projects would help resolve many issues including energy problem in Pakistan.
He said that in the SCO meeting, there were discussions about making energy corridors besides energy clubs so that the people of this region could have better opportunities and facilities in the days to come.
Dr Asim said that progress and prosperity of this region was the main focus of the leaders of this region and for this, several fruitful discussions were held in the SCO meeting.
Replying to a question regarding the energy crisis, the Petroleum Minister said that developed countries were also importing the energy to meet their demand and added that Pakistan is under-developed country which has also growing demand of the energy.
He said that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani's recent meeting with SCO leaders would bring economic prosperity for the people of this part of the region.
Replying to another question, he said that Pakistan is engaged in many projects of oil and gas exploration.
