Careem, the UAE based car booking service, has inked an agreement with the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) under which 100,000 unemployed individuals will be provided training and job opportunities in the transportation sector.
The agreement was signed between Junaid Iqbal, CEO Careem Networks Pakistan and Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Chairperson TEVTA on Thursday, reported the technology media platform Techjuice.
“Our organisation will help successful graduates avail job opportunities at a salary ranging from Rs 22,000 to Rs 25,000 per month,” said Junaid Iqbal on the occasion.
As per the agreement, the training which would span for three years will be conducted by TEVTA that will cover driving skills, road safety, and basic Arabic language skills. After the training, drivers will be hired by Careem in Pakistan or in the Gulf countries.
Reports added that applicants aged above 21, and holds secondary school certificate are eligible to apply, whereas, stipend will also be provided during the training period.
Careem entered Pakistan last year, and started its operations in Karachi, Lahore and then expanding to Islamabad.
