imageISLAMABAD: The government is giving special emphasis to the information technology sector to enhance its exports.

According to officials over five billion rupees have been allocated in the current fiscal year for the development of IT industry, Radio Pakistan reported.

Giving details of the IT related project to be undertaken in the current fiscal year, the officials said that a software technology park will be established in the federal capital with the assistance of Korea. The IT park will attract international companies to develop software and hardware solutions and also help boost the country's IT exports.

The officials said the government is also taking steps to ensure provision of broadband and telecommunication services to far flung and unserved areas of the country.
