Telenor EasyPaisa have partnered with Swedish base technology form Ericsson to accelerate the growth of mobile money services in Pakistan.
According to local media reports, the partnership would be fruitful for Telenor Easypaisa, as it would help strengthen its position in the mobile money sector. Under this partnership EasyPaisa existing infrastructure would be replaced by technology provided by Ericsson
EasyPaisa which was introduced by the collaboration of Norway based Telenor group and Pakistan’s Tameer Micro Finance Bank. Recently, Telenor acquired the bank after purchasing the remaining 49pc of its shares.
“It is essential to have the right technology partner to roll out new services that provide added benefits and services to propel financial inclusion through branchless banking,” said Founder, President and CEO, Tameer Micro Finance Bank, Nadeem Hussain.
As per Mobile World Live, the reason behind the infrastructure replacement was however, not provided by EasyPaisa, which says the service currently boasts 21 million active users.
