imageISLAMABAD: The number of 3G and 4G subscribers in the country have reached 23.65 million by December, 2015 as compared to 21.68 million by November 2015, showing a reasonable growth in modern mobile broadband services with each passing month.

The operators, providing mobile broadband services, have collectively added around two million users during one month.

As per recently issued Telecom Indicators by Pakistan Telecommunication Authorities (PTA), among the mobile phone companies, Mobilink stood first with 7.24 million 3G subscribers till December 2015, China Mobile (Zong) 4.75 million 3G users and 0.282 million 4G users, Telenor with 6.37 million users, Ufone 4.3 million users and Warid possessed 0.214 million 4G LTE subscribers base.

Experts of telecom industry were having a viewpoint that portable mobile broadband devices like MiFi and Wingles are one of the main reasons of this growth in 3G/4G subscribers and many more will follow this trend in upcoming days.

Meanwhile, after successful launch of 4G LTE services in 30 major cities, Warid has announced availability of its 4G LTE network in Hafizabad, Jhelum, Mansehra & Hub to take total toll of 4G LTE enabled cities to 34.
