'Loadshedding hindering productivity'

SAMBRIAL: Chairman All Pakistan Dry Ports Association (APDA) Muhammad Ishaq Butt said power outages in the country had affected productivity.

Addressing a press conference at Sialkot Dry Port on Sunday, he said the country had been in a severe grip of an electricity crisis for the last 5 years.

"Loadshedding increased from 8 to 16 hours a day bringing all economic, industrial and agricultural progress to a standstill and activities at dry ports are at the lowest ebb. he said.

Export orders were delayed and we lost many markets where we were exporting our products regularly on account of not meeting delivery schedule and if the problem was not addressed immediately Pakistan will lose its share in international market, he added.

The chairman of All Pakistan Dry Ports Association demanded of the government to redress the energy crisis as the situation had worsened and loadshedding increased from 16 to 20 hours.
