LAHORE: Punjab government is going to launch first innovation policy in collaboration with Google Inc. at the Arfa Software Technology Park on Thursday (August 16).
Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will be the chief guest on this occasion.
The initiative is being taken on the direction of Chief Minister Punjab, aimed at removing the hurdles in the way of promotion of information technology and bringing innovation.
The agenda of this innovation policy is to use information technology to enable citizens to benefit from better public service, access to information and network across the province.
Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has taken steps on behalf of the Punjab government for facilitating Google Inc. The international team of Google will also be present at the launch of this event.
Chairman PITB, Dr. Umar Saif said that the information technology is being used to improve governance, bring transparency to the operations of the government, spur innovation, and to facilitate service delivery to the citizens.
He said that this policy will help in developing strong IT infrastructure and solving the matters speedily like the business community who have used this technology to have access to global markets and also to improve government services for the people.
