KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers have developed a software and established a control room for surveillance of the educational institutions and other important places in Karachi to ensure their security.
Sindh Information Adviser Moula Bux Chandio, spokesman of Sindh Rangers Colonel Qaiser Aajmal Khattak and Additional IG Sindh informed this at a press conference here Saturday.
Col Khattak said Karachi had been divided in 60 zones for effective monitoring through the software.
"This program would enable us to ensure greater security of the educational institutions," he told adding that more than 3,000 schools had been brought under that program so far.
According to him, there are around 15,000 schools in Karachi out of which 3,000 had been added to the program while the remaining would also be covered subsequently.
Col Khattak advised the school administrations to register their schools for the software at the nearest Rangers posts in their respective areas.
He further apprised that the ambit of the software would be extended to include more places like the recreational facilities, shopping centers and media houses, among others, for the monitoring. Speaking on the occasion, the Sindh Information Advisor appreciated the initiative.
"The Sindh Rangers and the police have taken big strides against terrorism," Chandio observed.
He said Sindh is the first province to introduce the said system for the protection of the educational institutions.
Chandio said the law and order situation had improved in Karachi thanks to the national action plan.
