ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Friday sought reply from Secretary Interior and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad in a plea seeking full security to former Chairman Senate Nayyer Bukhari.
Justice Aamir Farooq heard the petition moved by Former Chairman Senate seeking security as approved in 2007.
Syed Asghar Hussain Sabzwari, counsel for the petitioner argued before the Bench that the former Chairmen of Senate had been provided security in view of high constitutional office held by them.
He said that due to deteriorating law and order situation in the country, a summary was moved by the interior ministry to PM for security to the former chairmen Senate in 2007 and the following security was approved to his client :
i. An escort vehicle of the ICT Police in Islamabad with driver and security staff,
ii. A residential guard at Islamabad premises comprising one head constable and 4 constables,
iii. One personal gunman of the ICT Police
Later on, the security was withdrawn from all dignitaries in in 2015, he added.
Following the arguments the Bench while issuing the notice to the respondents adjourned the matter till May 19.
