KARACHI: Provincial Minister Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that government is committed to eradicate dengue and malaria in the province and in this regard a massive drive is going-on in Karachi.
In the second phase it will be launched in other parts of Sindh. This he said while getting briefing on the subject here.
Dengue Control Program Manager Dr. Masood Solangi, while briefing the Provincial Health Minister, told that at random basis so far in 16 big parks and at more than 52 tyre shops, phenithion granules sprinkled to destroy the larvae and fumigation campaign was in full swing as directed by the health minister.
He also informed that during last week 11 cases of dengue diagnosed patients were reported in Karachi while no case was reported in other districts of the province.
Since January as many as 328 dengue diagnosed patients had been identified and fortunately no death was reported.
Minister Health while expressing his satisfaction, directed managers of Dengue and Malaria Control Programs to speed up their activities against dengue and malaria larvae.
Meanwhile, Dr. Khalid Shaikh MS Services Hospital Karachi informed the Provincial Minister Health that on his directives a heat wave ward had been established and instructions displayed that how to treat and to save from severe heat stroke at places in hospital as well.
Dahar directed MS Services Hospital to take all efforts to save human lives.
