imageISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday set aside the verdict of Balochistan High Court (BHC) staying the dismissal of teachers from their services by the provincial government.

The three member SC bench headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmed accepted the plea filed by Balochistan Teachers Association through its counsel Asima Jahangir.

Asma Jahangir argued that forming trade union and protests for their rights were basic rights of employees.

She appealed to the court to suspend the BHC's verdict banning strikes and protests by the teachers and the government's directives to dismiss them.

After hearing the arguments at length, the court suspended the BHC's verdict and accepted the case for hearing.
