KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that the new phase of anti-polio drive will be launched from October 7 in Karachi which will target 1,016,499 children of under 5 years.
The campaign will be launched in 80 union councils of six districts of Karachi and 2795 mobile teams will perform their duties.
This he said while presiding over a meeting on Thursday in his office here, said a statement.
He said that during the campaign 153,548 children in Central district, 219,143 children in Malir district, 472,927 children in district West, 7965 children in district South, 55,719 children in district East, while 107,197 children in district East would be administered polio drops.
He said after completion of the drive against polio in Karachi, a similar campaign for 14 districts of the interior of Sindh with a target of 4,053,238 children in 644 Union Councils will be held from October 12 to 15.
These districts include Hyderabad, Larkana, Dadu, Jamshoro, Sanghar, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur and Kambar districts will be covered during the campaign, he added.
The Health Minister showed his concern over number of cases of Dengue diagnosed patients in spite of spray against dengue virus and directed the programme incharge to ensure effective spray against dengue virus and submit a report against the cases.
