imageISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday dismissed the petition seeking time frame to decide the resignations matter submitted by the MQM legislators while objecting that petitioner was not aggrieved party in the matter.

Chief Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi heard the plea filed by Muhammad Dawood Ghazanavi through M. Kowkab Iqbal on the current MQM resignations matter from National Assembly (NA), Provincial Assembly (PA) and Senate.

Kowkab Iqbal counsel for petitioner pleaded that as Article 64 of the constitution read with provisions of Rule 43 of the Rules of Business of the NA was completely silent on setting any time frame under which the speaker would conclude this inquiry.

He further prayed to direct the speakers NA, Speaker Sindh Assembly and Chairman Senate to restrain them from playing politics in the matter.

Iqbal also pleaded against the objections raised by the registrar office on the petition and said that being a citizen he had right to file the petition in this regard but the bench rejected his arguments and ultimately the petition stood dismissed.
