QUETTA: Minister of State for Health, Saira Afzal Tarar has said that the federal government has been providing Rs 100 million for Reproductive and Child and Maternal Health in Balochistan, adding that polio virus would be eradicated on permanent basis by 2016.
She along with Provincial Health Minister, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch was addressing a press conference at the Balochsitan Assembly premises, here on Friday. She said "We are going to initiate Prime Minister Insurance Health Program in four districts of Balochistan including Quetta, Pishin, Kachhi and Loralai", adding that the federal government would support the Balochsitan government in its measures to eradicate polio virus on permanent basis
. She said that the National Health Ministry would arrange video conference with all provincial governments so that officials of their health departments would not have to come to Islamabad for meeting.
She said that anti-polio campaigns faced problems in the areas where law and order situation was worsened. She, however, said that soon nationwide anti-polio drive would be launched which would help in eradicating the disease on permanent basis.
She said that Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has been paying special attention to resolve issues and problems of Balochistan in order to remove sense of deprivation among the local people.
Provincial Health Minister, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch said that terrorism and law and order situation caused some problems during the anti-polio campaigns. He, however, resolved that polio virus would be eradicated in Balochistan for ever.
