ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Water and Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali on Monday informed National Assembly that very low recovery areas were facing load shedding over and above the schedule.
Replying to a Calling Attention Notice, the minister said, the feeders where the recovery rate of dues was less than 30 percent, the power outage duration was more than other areas.
About long hours load shedding in recent past, he said, it was two weeks back when the IRSA had not released the water share of provinces that had resulted in dip in hydro power generation. "But, we tried to overcome this shortage through other energy resources. Now, the situation is better." The minister explained to the House that at present there was six to seven hours load shedding in cities, nine to ten hours in villages and eight hours in industrial feeder areas.
"Other than this schedule, load shedding over and above the schedule happens in the areas from where the recovery ratio is less than 30 percent," he added. Replying to the question of the Siraj Muhammad Khan, he said, in Nowshera there were 18 feeders in urban areas showing recovery rate of less than 30 percent. In these areas the power remained shut from 18 to 20 hours.
