imageMITHI: Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has announced that free distribution of wheat in Thar would continue as part of relief efforts being made by the provincial government until the famine-hit desert area receives sufficient rains.

Addressing a public gathering at Chhachhro town of District Tharparkar here on Thursday the Sindh CM said that it is the government's responsibility to provide clean water to the entire province but

Tharparkar is being given priority due to its grievious conditions. He said to resolve the issue of water scarcity 750 solar powered reverse osmosis (RO) plants would be installed in far flung villages of the district in current fiscal year.

RO plant operating at Chhachhro would be shifted to solar power soon and more RO plants would also be installed in villages of Chhachhro Tehsil to further improve the provision of water in the area, he added.

The Sindh government has incurred billions of rupees for the welfare of Thari people and it is ready to spend more as it is their core duty to resolve the issues faced by the people, the CM said while elaborating that residents of Thar have been provided with facilities of health, education, drinkable water and employment opportunities while more development and employment opportunities are in the offing.

Syed Qaim Ali Shah vowed that health facilities will be expanded to each village of every union council of Tharparkar and added that a committee of health department would recruit doctors who would be appointed at union council level. Taluka hospital Chhachhro will be upgraded by provision of all medical facilities, he added.

The CM also directed the district administration to expedite relief activities in consultation with elected representatives of the area.

Provincial Minister, Dost Muhammad Rahmon, MNA Pir Noor Muhammad Shah, MPA Mahesh Kumar Malani also addressed the occasion.

Later, the Sindh CM visited Chhachhro Hospital, inspected wards and facilities and inquired about the health of admitted patients. Provincial Minister Ali Mardan Shah, former MPA Dr. Ghulam Hyder Samejo, Inayat Ali Rahmon, party local cadre and workers also accompanied him.
