LAHORE: A Lahore High Court division bench Friday upheld death sentence of a convict who was condemned for burning alive two minor children in Faisalabad.
A two member bench announced the verdict while dismissing appeal of the convict Usman.
During the hearing, the prosecution submitted that the accused Usman burnt alive Rabia-4 years and Sharif-3 years over a family row in Faisalabad in presence of their mother. The court was requested to dismissed the appeal of the accused as strong evidence was available against him.
However, the accused's counsel submitted that his client was involved in the case due to personal enmity and there was no solid evidence against him.He pleaded the court to acquit the accused.
The bench after hearing arguments of both parties dismissed the appeal and upheld death penalty of the accused.
The anti-terrorism court, Faisalabad awarded death penalty on two counts to Usman in 2011.
Meanwhile, the same bench also upheld death penalty of another convict while dismissing his appeal
The ATC faisalabad awarded death penalty to accused Suftain for burning alive his mother-in-law Sarwar Bibi in presence of his wife over a family row.
