imageDI KHAN : District administration is taking solid measures to extend relief to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency and has provided medical treatment to over 14040 patients with free medicine here, so far.

According to an official source, gastro, allergy and water-borne diseases are common among the IDPs and as many as 180 patients were treated in a single day on Oct 16.

Similarly, the concerned authorities are making effective efforts to provide relief items to the displaced populace staying here with distributing over 31030 food and 16670 non-food items among 5985 families, so far.

An official report says three assistance centers in government educational facilities have been wound up and a new center at Sports Stadium, Ratta Kulchi has been made operational to distribute relief good among these families.

Regarding the cash disbursement process, the report says and so far over 3180 displaced families have received the amount with Rs 8000 each family as of Oct 15 through 30 UBL and Omni points, across the district. Regarding polio-campaign for the IDPs, the document says since launch of Zarb-e-Azb operation, six polio campaigns have been completed in the district while in recent three-day campaign a total of 5738 TDPs children were vaccinated.

The district administration is also facing shortage of relief goods for these IDPs and has called upon concerned authorities to provide those items to conveniently and effectively extend relief to the displaced populace staying here.

The official daily report reflects the administration needs different items including 6000 big tents, 6000 mosquito nets, 18000 bed-sheets, 6000 water tanks, 18000 solar lights, 6000 pedestal fans and 6000 mattresses for the IDPs who had migrated in wake of military operation in North Waziristan Agency.

However, the administration has accelerated its efforts to arrange the required items, succeeding to have received some items from various organizations.

According to the document though the most of the IDPs were staying with host families in big compounds, they still need tents because of Pardah.

However, according to an official source the administration may not any sort of hurdle in way of smooth flow of relief activities, as mostly displaced families have been staying with their relatives in houses and could easily sustain impact in case of late delivery of the required goods.

The source also adds that as many as 1292 complaints of various natures have been forwarded to the concerned agencies so far and the grievances booth on Oct 14 received a total of 30 complaints.

Of these, six grievances were referred to NADRA, eight to FDMA and 16 were relating to UNHCR, it says.
