GHOTKI: Sindh Minister for Food, Jam Mehtab Dahar, and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sindh as well as District officials visited the protective embankments (Bunds) in Taluka Ubaro and also reviewed the arrangements made for flood victims.
The visit was made there on the special directives of Sindh Chief Minister.
On the occasion speaking to the media, Sindh Minister said that all arrangements to cope with the flood in the province have been finalised in advance.
Relief and Medical Camps have been established for flood victims here, he said adding condition of Bunds is satisfactory because in 2010, a flow of 1.2 million cusecs of flood water had crossed through Indus River from there without any harm.
"Local people have been warned to shift women, children and livestock to safe places before the flood water arrives there", he said.
Principal Secretary to the Chief Minster Sindh, Ali Nawaz Chachar said that Sindh Chief Minister has declared Qadirpur Loop Bund as sensitive and work of stone pitching has been started there to strengthen it.
Besides, the Chief Minister has set up a flood camp at Sukkur to extend all possible support to flood victims, he added.
Assistant Commissioner, Muhammad Tahir Rauf said that five relief camps, two medical camps and one veterinary camp have been set up there.
