PESHAWAR: Member National Assembly belonging to PTI Gulzar Khan Friday said that the so called Azadi march of the PTI had put an end to the political career of the party and it would face 'worst' defeat in the general election whenever held in the country as its popularity graph was declining at a very fast pace.
Talking to APP, Gulzar Khan, who was recently expelled from the party for refusing to tender resignation from the NA seat, said that the azadi march exposed the PTI before the masses with regard to Imran Khan's irresponsible and immature way of politicking that also indicated that Imran had no political wisdom.
He maintained that every political party could bring 15,000 to 20,000 people to Islamabad against the sitting government but there was no justification in asking the elected prime minister to step down without any cogent reason.
The PTI got an opportunity to show its performance in the KPK but the party had nothing to its credit to show to the people worth the name, he added.
He was optimistic that the democratic system would remain intact in the country and denied the impression of any possible threat to future of democracy and there were certain reasons for it.
The United States and the United Kingdom have clearly stated that they would not accept any unconstitutional and undemocratic change in Pakistan, he added.
He agreed that Pakistan was today faced with numerous challenges both internal and external and made a mention of the military operation in North Waziristan Agency, and problems in Afghanistan.
Gulzar Khan, a former bureaucrat, said, he did not see any chance of imposition of martial law in the country.
He said their group presently consisted of three MNAs who refused to resign from the members of the National Assembly. The remaining two are Mussarat Zeb and Nasir Khan Khattak.
However, he said that two other MNAs Khial Zaman and Qaisar Jamal were also not likely to tender resignation before the National Assembly Speaker.
He said that if any show cause notice was served on him by PTI he would simply reply to it by writing 'Shoot first, ask question later.' The real strength of the splinter group within PTI would be clear in a few days.
The decision to resign from the NA membership was taken unilaterally by the party chief Imran Khan as he neither consulted anyone to this effect nor the party's core committee. He said that the PTI core committee comprised non-elected members.
The PTI had maximum number of MNAs from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that is 18, he said adding they had requested for making two of PTI's MNAs as members of the core committee, but their request was turned down and as such they could not present their views and proposals in the party's core committee.
In reply to a question, he said that Imran Khan had won 1992 cricket world cup for the country and now seeking for the post of Prime Minister.
Whereas Australia had won the world cup many times, but their captains never made such demand. Similarly Germany won the football world cup for five times but their captains desired to become the chancellor.
