imageRAWALPINDI: Around 50 small and big functions are being organized to observe 68th Independence Day of the country in different parts of the Rawalpindi Division on August 14.

The details collected in this behalf revealed that a number of functions would be organized in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum Districts to observe the Independence Day of the motherland with national zeal and enthusiasm.

Punjab Minister for Labour, Manpower and Provincial Head of Independence Month Observance Raja Ashfaq Sarwar chairing a meeting of PML- N District Presidents and Secretaries besides District Coordination Officers of Rawalpindi Division held here the other day said that the patriotic citizens of Pakistan would not become the part of any anti-state activity as they know the real faces of those who had been acting upon the voices of their masters just to get their vested interests fulfilled.

The elected representatives of Rawalpindi Division and DCOs briefed the Minister about the schedule of Independence Day functions of their respective districts and tehsils.

Raja said that Independence Day functions are being held with great enthusiasm and national zeal as all the segments of the society are organizing various events to mark the Day in a befitting manner.

He said people from all sections of society are actively participating in these activities by reposing full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.

The meeting was informed on the occasion that entry points in all districts are being decorated to mark the festivities of Independence Day of Pakistan.

Independence Day celebrations are being organized and observed by all segments of society, including government departments, schools, colleges, civil society as well as the PML-N’s labour, lawyers, ulema and youth wings.

According to the Head of Rawalpindi District Mah-e-Azadi Functions Sardar Nasim, the objective of observing Mah-e-Azadi or the month of independence is to make the young generation aware of sacrifices rendered by the forefathers to make a separate homeland for them.

Sardar Nasim informed that speech contests, painting exhibitions and sports competitions would be organized to mark the independence.

Rawalpindi Arts Council has also arranged a number of functions which would continue throughout the day especially highlighting the sacrifices rendered by the heroes of Independence Movement besides those who have been laying their lives to save their country fellows from the curse of terrorism.

Government buildings and markets are being decorated with flags, colourful buntings besides being illuminated.

Mah-e-Azadi Observance had started on August 01 and that will continue till August 31 at the town, district, divisional and provincial levels.
