LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed to dispatch 20,000 food hampers to residents of the Thar Desert.
Provincial Ministers Chaudhry Shafiq and Wahid Arain would lead the caravan comprising 25 trucks carrying 20,000 food hampers from here so that lives of the residents of Thar Desert facing malnutrition might be saved.
The chief minister has also directed Punjab Disaster Management Director General to accompany the caravan.
Each food hamper contains flour, rice, ghee, pulses, sugar, tea and mineral water bottles and each food hamper is sufficient for seven day food needs of an average family.
