LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Friday adjourned a petition against an election tribunal order for verification of thumb impressions on votes polled in NA-118 till December 4 after petitioner's counsel sought time for preparation and submission of further documents.
The single bench comprising Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh was hearing the petition filed by PML-N MNA Malik Riaz.
Earlier, the petitioner's counsel Aamer Rehman submitted that the petitioner was elected from NA-118 in general election 2013 but rival PTI candidate Hamid Zaman approached the election tribunal to get the election result void on basis of rigging allegations.
He submitted that the election tribunal on November 18 ordered National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to verify thumb impressions on votes polled in NA-118.
He contended the tribunal did not have the jurisdiction to pass such an order except in accordance with the method provided in law. He pleaded the court to set aside the order being illegal.
However, the counsel sought time for preparation and submission of further documents.
The court accepting the request adjourned the matter till December 4.
