KARACHI: In a major breakthrough in the schoolgirl rape and murder case, police Saturday arrested three suspects including a woman. The girl was kidnapped from her school in Azizabad on September 24 and her body was found near Sea View beach.
Talking to Business Recorder, DIG West Jawaid Odho said police, on a tip off, raided various parts of the city and arrested two suspects namely Bilal, Faisal and a woman Hameeda alias Shama. He said police also arrested Shahid from Quetta who will be shifted to Karachi in next couple of hours.
Police said Shama was a relative of the victim and had a property dispute with her family. She kidnapped the girl from her school with the help of her neighbour Faisal. “When she (Shama) failed to settle the property dispute, she kidnapped the girl with the help of Faisal and later demanded ransom from the girl’s family,” police said.
Odho said that Faisal raped the ill-fated girl before suffocating her to death. Later, Faisal dumped the body at Sea View beach.
Police have registered a case against the accused under 365-B and 302 and also contemplating to incorporate ATC Section in the FIR. Further arrests would be made soon, police said.
