LAHORE: Punjab Assembly on Friday adopted a unanimous resolution for Punjab Assembly Secretary Malik Aftab Maqbool Joya who died of a heart attack the other day.
The Punjab Assembly session started some 2 hours behind its scheduled time of 9am with Deputy Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani in the chair.
A unanimous resolution was adopted by the house after suspending the official business for Aftab Maqbool Joya. The resolution eulogized the services of the public servant who had served with distinction. The resolution said that Aftab Joya had joined the Punjab Assembly in 1997 and served in different departments.
He had also served as Acting Secretary PA. He had also authored a book. The house admired his meritorious services for the Punjab Assembly.
The House also sympathised with the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant the family courage to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity.
The unanimous resolution was tabled by Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, Opposition Leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, PML-Q Parliamentary Leader Ch Moonis Elahi, JI Parliamentary Leader Dr Syed Wasim Akhtar, MPAs Bilal Asghar Warraich and Ch Ghulam Murtaza.
Earlier, the house offered fateha for the departed soul. Later, Acting Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani adjourned the session till Monday morning at 10:00.
