ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday on the advice of the Prime Minister approved extension in the tenure of six Additional Judges of Sindh High Court for a period of one year.
The judges whose tenure has been extended include Justice Syed Muhammad Farooq Shah, Justice Farooq Ali Channa, Justice Aziz-ur- Rehman, Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar, Justice Riazat Al Sahar and Justice Salahuddin Panhwar.
The summary received at the Presidency said the nominations for extension as Additional Judges of Sindh High Court were received on May 25th, 2013 from Secretary Judicial Commission of Pakistan, Islamabad for confirmation by the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment in Superior Courts.
The Parliamentary Committee, due to lack of quorum in its meeting on 3rd June, 2013, could not take formal decision on confirmation of the nominations within the stipulated time period of fourteen days, hence under clause 12 of article 175 A of the constitution, the nominations sent by Judicial Commission were deemed to have been confirmed.
Under Clause 13 of Article 175A of the Constitution, the nominations deemed to have been confirmed were subsequently forwarded to the Prime Minister for onward submission to the President for his approval.
