KARACHI: At least eight persons were killed in separate incidents of violence in various localities of the Sindh metropolis here on Saturday.
According to police and rescue sources, a young boy and a girl were found dead near Baloch Masjid at Teen Hatti in the limits of Liquatabad police station. Police said both the bodies were sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where the boy was identified as Shahid, 22, adding that the deceased was a resident of Musharraf Colony. The girl's identity, however, could not be ascertained.
Two more men were found dead at Ghas Mandi in the jurisdiction of Garden police station. Police said the deceased were identified as Asim alias Muski and Arsalan, adding that both of them had links with a notorious Lyari gangster, Haris Niazi. Police said they had recovered extortion slips, two pistols and snatched bikes, adding that that they had been targeted when they were on the way to distribute extortion slips. A 25-year-old man named Fazlur Rehman was gunned down at Korangi No11/2 in the jurisdiction of Zaman Town police station. Police said the victim lived in Noorani Basti in Korangi and was a drug peddler and might have been killed over a related issue.
A man named Mutaqi, 30, was shot dead near Jafaria Imambargah in the limits of Rizvia police station. Police said the victim was a contractor and might have been killed over a business dispute. Another man named Tahir Khan, 30, was found dead near Gujar Nullah in the limits of Gulbahar police station. Police said the victim used to live in Hassan Colony and was a father of four.
A 32-year-old man named Mehtab was killed near Ghousia Chowk in Orangi Town in the limits of Pakistan Bazaar police station. Police said the victim, who lived in Sector 16 of Orangi Town, had a criminal record and might have been killed by other criminals.
