LAHORE: Agriculture experts have advised wheat growers to remove weeds for attaining 5 to 7 maunds per acre higher yields.
Talking to APP here on Thursday, agriculture experts said that this year the government has set wheat production target of 19.20 million tonnes and it could be achieved by adopting scientific methods.
They said weeds could harm wheat production upto 14 to 42 percent as this factor harms even the quality of seeds.
"Weeds grow 3 to 4 percent faster than wheat crop as they imbibe nutrients very actively from the land", sources said.
The experts said that before carrying out spray on the crops to remove weeds farmers should seek guidance from concerned offices of agriculture department for better results.
