People2 400ISLAMABAD: A one day seminar on `Poverty and Inequality' will be held here on Tuesday, July 24, with an aim to discuss poverty and inequality challenges and policy choices facing Pakistan.

The Seminar has been organized by the World Bank (WB), which would bring leading experts to exchange global knowledge and experiences on key policy and development challenges in Pakistan.

Among others, senior official from the Ministry of Finance are likely to participate in the day-long moot.

The World Bank has invited Francois Bourguignon, Director Paris School of Economics and Professor of Economics, Ecole des Hautes Etudes on Sciences Sociales to lead the dialogue on poverty and inequality.

According to WB press statement issued here, Bourguignon is a global expert on the micro-determinants of poverty, inequality and their relation to labor market issues.

He was the Chief Economist and Senior Vice president of the World Bank Group (2003-2007), at the time when his contribution was instrumental in reorienting its development thinking toward inclusion and pro-poor growth.
