mango2 400KARACHI: China has opened its markets for Pakistani mangoes and in response, Pakistan has recently sent very first shipment of mangoes to China via Sea.

Durrani Associates CEO A.Q. Khan Durrani said in a release on Monday that people will be surprised to know that china itself is 2nd largest producer of Mango in the world with annual production of 4.5 million tons. “In the first shipment 40 Ton of Mango is being exported to china in 2 forty feet containers having value of $60000”.

He further said that he under the aegis of Durrani Associates exports mangoes to Middle and Far East, Jordan, Lebanon and Mauritius.

Durrani emphasized the need of a shift of consignment through ships and said that recently, he sent a shipment to Korea, where duty on by air trade is 30 percent, while there is no duty on delivery through sea.

Further elaborating his viewpoint, he said that by sending mangoes by air to China is very expensive as the freight of Mango by air is around $1.5/ Kg which is Rs.140. At the other hand freight of Mangoes by sea to China is only 8 per Kg which is $0.085 while saving this fright cost Pakistan mango can compete in China and all other markets of the world.

He said that there was a massive potential of Pakistani mango in China as Chinese people like mangoes a lot, while exploring this big market of Mango Lovers, Pakistan can earn millions of Dollar in Fruit Sector. He was of the view that China could be the biggest market of Pakistan Mangoes and within 3 years Pakistan export can be doubled.

It is pertinent to mention here that as many as 11 countries including Pakistan export mangos.
