KARACHI: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry FPCCI, apex body of trade and Industry in Pakistan, expressed serious concern over deterioration in law and order situation in Karachi over past few days, wherein an escalation in criminal activities has been witnessed. Recent media reports mentioned alarming rise in bank robberies worth millions of Rupees.
FPCCI press release Saturday said recently incidence of dacoity occurred at residence of Shakil Ahmed Dhingra, Vice President FPCCI and Sheikh Manzar Alam, Chairman FPCCI Standing Committee on Press & Media deprived of money and other valuables at Vita Chowrangi, within space of less than one week.
FPCCI strongly condemns both the incidences.
While robberies at shops and at homes are fast becoming a major nuisance to business community, ongoing trend of extortion adds further to problems of traders, industrialists. It is crucial to understand business community of any country is backbone of national economy. Unless businessmen are allowed to work in environment of safety and security, country will never prosper.
FPCCI said government should take serious action to alleviate condition of law and order that is adversely affecting growth of economy. All arms of government should work together to ensure that citizens of Karachi are provided protection from miscreants.
