HYDERABAD: The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been engaged in construction of 500 kilometers roads in rural parts of Sindh particularly in those areas where the roads have been destroyed as a result of last year's heavy rainfalls and floods.

This was informed by the Chief Representative Japan International Cooperation Agency at Pakistan Takatoshi NISHIKATA while inaugurating the newly constructed Matiari-Tando Jam Raod via Allah Dino Saand at Matiari on Saturday.

The ten kilometers long road has been constructed under financial assistance of JICA with an amount of Rs. 120 million. Takatoshi NISHIKATA said that project of the construction of the said road has been completed two months earlier from the estimated time and it will help in providing better communication facility to the people of the area.

Sindh Secretary Works and Services Alamuddin Ballu speaking on the occasion said that construction of roads in rural parts aimed to link the villages to cities and the present government has launched a comprehensive plan in this direction.

The completion of Matiari-Tando Jam Road via Allah Din Saand with the financial assistance of JICA is the part of the government's efforts, he said and called upon the people of the areas to ensure maintenance of the project so that they could enjoy the fruits of the project for long time. The Project Director Saindad Solangi also spoke on the occasion.
