KARACHI: Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), in response to its tender regarding purchase of sugar, has received 53 bids from local sugar mills quoting rates ranging from Rs 45,720 to Rs.50,000 per metric tons.

According to TCP here Tuesday, the tender was floated on January 23, 2012 for the purchase of 100,000 MT of sugar.

TCP said that all the bids, opened this afternoon, were found responsive in terms of prescribed evaluation criteria. Two mills (M/s. Hunza Sugar Mills Unit-I and M/s. Hunza Sugar Mills Unit-II) have offered equal lowest price of Rs.45,720 PMT each for 5,000 MT.

Being the lowest and conforming to all tender terms and conditions, the offers of these mills were accepted and they were awarded contracts, accordingly, for a total quantity of 10,000 MT sugar.

However, to complete the purchase of total targeted quantity of sugar, rest of the bidders who quoted higher rates in the tender have been asked to matching the lowest bid price by Wednesday.

Award of further contracts will be considered/decided upon receipt of bid matching response from the concerned mills.
