imagePESHAWAR: The business community, politicians and people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here Monday lauded Federal Government for reducing petroleum products and termed it a positive decision, which would give direct relief to common man besides promoting industrialization in the country.

Former President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI), Fawad Ishaq told APP that reduction of petroleum products was a wise and positive decision of the Federal Government that would not only reduce transportation cost but would directly benefit businessmen associated with industrial and commerce sector.

The traders, he said, was spending huge amount on transportation of raw materials and slashing of petroleum products would not only save the hard earned money of labourers, shopkeepers and businessmen but would reduce prices of common goods in markets besides controlling inflation viz a viz promoting infant industries.

Fawad Ishaq urged KP Government and other agencies to come forward and ensure its trickle down effect by reducing the fare and transportation charges on inter districts routes.

He said solid measures were also required to reduce prices of electricity and gas to help industrialists to meet export targets.

Former President KPCCI Yousaf Sarwar said low prices of petroleum, gas and electricity besides peaceful atmosphere was imperative for sustained economic growth.

Lauding the Federal Government's decision for decreasing the prices of petroleum products including petrol and diesel, the KPCCI leader said these positive measures would benefit all level of business, infant industries and generally people.

He appealed transporters to cut their fares/transport charges so the people get goods, especially the essential items at low prices along with relief in their routine travelling bills.

Rushad Khan, Member Provincial Assembly while terming the reduction of POL prices was a very positive decision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said all major sectors including transport, industries, agriculture and textile etc would be largely benefited from this decision in the country.

"The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are most associated with agriculture and transport sectors and slashing of POL prices would not only promote agriculture, fish farming but would reduce transportation charges of common man," Rushad Khan said, adding it a business, farmers and people-friendly move.

Sajid Khan, a Govt employee while welcoming the decision of reduction of POL prices of the Federal Government, said it would save about Rs10000 to a public sector employee while coming to Peshawar from Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan and Charsadda districts for jobs in private transport.

"The public sector employees could only utilize the saved amount on provision of quality education and health services to children besides buying of essential edibles items," he said.

Khan requested the KP government to take action against owners of those petrol pumps who are creating hurdles in extending benefits to the people in the wake of reduction in prices in the country.
